Football bet template

If you want to have some fun with your friends, you can bet on your favorite football team and keep the bets into an excel file.

See here an example with the following logic:

  • Everybody can bet any amount (could be equal for all betters)
  • You can bet on break and final score or just on the final score
  • The amount to pay for each better is proportional with the his/hers bet amount if more than 1 winner

For this file (template, no macros) I used Named Ranges with Offset based on Name column (A). Example bTeam1:

  1. =OFFSET(Bets!$C$3,0,0,COUNTA(Bets!$A:$A)-1,1)

Meaning: create a range from C3 to the last entered person. For more details and Offset examples, see this page.

Other named ranges refer to a single cell just to make the formula easier to understand.
